Whilst doing my research for the petite clothes shop, i stumbled across some interesting finds regarding height issues some horrified me why in this day and age is height such an issue, its not something you can really change. There is a lot of discrimination out there regarding height for people who are short and tall but it seems to be accepted. ( Read more )

We have all heard of Tinkerbell the fiery fairy from the Peter Pan story, today I came across this article on the Daily Mail and found it quite interesting. For years we have heard of the Napoleon complex that describes a man of shorter than average stature having and alleged inferiority complex due to their height causing them to feel like they have to prove themselves to everyone. It seems they now believe there’s a female version of this which they have named the ‘Tinkerbell Syndrome’

Are you petite?
There’s a lot of confusion when describing people as petite, many people think petite means slim with the 6ft size 6 supermodels being described as petite and some clothing shops describing their smallest on the rack clothes size as petite, which contradicts the actual meaning there is no wonder there is some confusion.
Many people out there do not realise that they may find better fitting clothes out there for them than what they are wearing due to this misunderstanding. So lets clear it up, What does petite actually mean.
Petite means the height of a person not the weight. If you are 5ft3″ or 5ft4″ tall or under then you are classed as petite no matter what size of clothes you take which if you look at petite facts or this world height chart this shows that most countries average height works out at petite yet the shops standard size clothing is aimed at around a height of 5ft5″/ 5ft6″. Petites in the fashion world are often neglected as fashion companies aim for the broadest part of the market. However the fashion industry is realising the need to cater for the petite market and in the UK most major stores now offer petites ranges but there’s still room for more.
